Food City Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 6 July 2026
1. ACCEPTANCE
By creating an account or using the Food City app and services, you (the parent or legal guardian) agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. DEFINITIONS
"Student" means the child whose meals are managed. "Wallet" is the prepaid stored-value balance in your account. "Credit" is non-cash value issued for skipped/paused meals, usable only toward future purchases. "Working day" is a school meal day (Sunday–Thursday, excluding weekends and meal-affecting holidays on the Bahrain calendar).
3. ELIGIBILITY & ACCOUNTS
You must be an adult parent or guardian to open and operate an account. You sign in using a one-time password (OTP) sent by WhatsApp or email; keep your device and access secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for the accuracy of the information you provide. A student may have at most one active subscription and one scheduled (prepaid, queued) subscription at a time.
4. REGISTRATION
Registration is arranged per school. You must provide accurate details (student name, email, Scholar ID, mobile, gender, date of birth, school, class, division). Where a school's self-registration is closed, we collect your details as a lead so our team can follow up.
5. MEAL PACKAGES & SUBSCRIPTIONS
Meal plans are offered as tiers, each with durations of one week, one month, three months, six months or one year. A subscription provides a meal on each working day for a fixed number of working days and runs to the end of its computed end date on Bahrain time. Menus follow the tier's schedule and may vary by day, subject to holidays.
6. PRICING, PAYMENT, WALLET & CREDITS
All prices are in Bahraini Dinars (BHD) and typically include VAT (around 10%) as shown at checkout. You may pay from your Wallet, or online via BENEFIT or Mastercard. Online top-ups and payments are subject to gateway limits (minimum 1.000 BHD, maximum 10000.000 BHD per transaction) and a payment session timeout. Wallet balance and Credits are stored value spendable only within the platform; there is no cash withdrawal to a bank or card. Applicable meal Credits are applied automatically to eligible purchases (oldest first).
7. MEAL SCHEDULING & CHANGES
Meal schedules are generated for a rolling window of upcoming working days. You may change or swap a meal option, or skip/pause a meal, from the app subject to cutoff times set by the operator — by default, skipping or pausing must be done at least 36 hours before the meal, and menu swaps have their own earlier cutoff. Changes to a started plan (e.g. start date) are only allowed before any meal has been prepared, delivered or cancelled.
8. NFC MEAL CARD & CANTEEN PURCHASES
Each student is issued a physical NFC card used to identify them and pay at the canteen point-of-sale from their Wallet. You can set the card's daily and per-transaction spending limits and freeze/unfreeze the card from the app. A frozen card cannot be used at the canteen. You are responsible for card use and for keeping limits appropriate.
9. DISCOUNTS
Discounts may apply, including sibling/family discounts (for verified siblings) and vouchers. Discounts are applied by the system to eligible purchases and shown on your receipt. Discounts are not exchangeable for cash and may be subject to eligibility, validity periods and usage limits.
10. CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
Cancellations, skips, pauses and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: skipping/pausing a meal returns non-cash Credit (less an administration fee) rather than cash; full subscription cancellation returns the pro-rated value of remaining working days to your Wallet (less any tier cancellation charge, and where the tier permits cancellation). Already-elapsed days are not refundable.
11. NOTIFICATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS
By using the service you agree to receive service messages, including OTPs, meal reminders, low-balance alerts and account notifications, via WhatsApp, email and push notifications. You can manage notification preferences in the app; some messages (e.g. OTPs, essential account and payment notices) are required to use the service.
12. ACCEPTABLE USE
Do not misuse the service, attempt to bypass security, submit false information, or use another person's account without authority. We may suspend or freeze accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.
13. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The app, its content and branding are owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied or used except as needed to use the service.
14. ALLERGENS & HEALTH INFORMATION
Allergy information you enter is used to display advisory warnings only. Menus may change and cross-contamination cannot be excluded. Allergen warnings are not a guarantee; for any serious dietary or medical need, verify directly with the school/canteen. We are not liable for reactions arising from information you did not provide or keep up to date.
15. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The service is provided on an "as is" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Bahraini law.
16. SUSPENSION & TERMINATION
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend, freeze or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms, suspected fraud, or legal reasons. On termination, retained data is handled per the Privacy Policy, and any refundable Wallet value is handled per the Refund Policy.
17. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date shows the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
18. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the courts of Bahrain have jurisdiction over any dispute.
